Balance in 2021

Our bodies, minds, and hearts crave wellness. We all know wellness is important to our own happiness, as well as our ability to show up as the best teammates, leaders, and family members we can be.

Yet the many demands of work, life and family can make focusing on wellness a challenge.

How can we make sure this is the year we prioritize our well-being - and actually stick with it - amidst the many competing priorities and juggling acts of these challenging and unusual times?

This digest features 4 of our favorite resources on cultivating balance and personal wellness. We hope you find some tools and inspiration to support your well-being - and the well-being of those around you:

Chronic stress can lead to impaired focus, reduced productivity, health problems, and even burnout. When we slip into a place where everything we do begins to take energy away from us, rather than energizing us, it’s a sign that we need to slow down - even if just for a minute or two. In this short video, People Piece founder and CEO Roni Krouzman gets right to the point and shares 8 concrete tips for reducing stress levels and avoiding burnout.

We’re one month into the new year - how are your 2021 resolutions going? If you’re like most of us, you’re probably not doing as much as you’d hoped. Rather than blame ourselves, Chip and Dan Heath offer a highly practical and effective approach to making - and sustaining - change: in our personal lives, at work, on our teams, and even in our communities. Their book, Switch, outlines concrete tools for shifting out of bad habits - and into new ones.

Exercise and nutrition are key to our wellness. Yet it can be hard to make time to eat well and work out. That’s why we’re teaming up with Meghan and Michael Krick, co-founders of The Quad. They provide individuals and businesses with curated, virtual personal training, nutrition, and stress management support through a modern, results-oriented approach. This is not about getting ripped - though that might be a side benefit ;) - it’s about cultivating fitter, healthier bodies and minds through an approach tailored to each person and organization. 2020 gave us a decade worth of lessons in a single year. We learned that to be successful, we need to show up as human beings. That means slowing down, working smarter not harder, and leading with our hearts and minds in all aspects of life, from work and family to community health and our own self care. In this video, our team of leadership coaches and team facilitators share practices they have chosen to engage in to stay human in 2021.

The leaders and teams we work with are ambitious and high performing. With most of us still working from home - and juggling the many demands of work and life, often with less support from our communities - we need self-care now more than ever.

We would love to hear what tools and practices you have found most effective for incorporating wellness into your routine.

As always, we’re here to help, whether it’s through a wellness-focused:

  • Engaging virtual offsite for your team, or

  • Transformative leadership coaching program
